External spring pin technology for high endurance and wide temperature range testing, on the same footprint as other Ironwood socket technologies, enabling contact technology switching on the same PCB.

ESS uses a double-ended spring probe with hardened, gold-plated Beryllium Copper plungers around a stainless steel or music wire spring, routing signals through the closed coil rather than the spring itself to hold integrity at GHz. The aluminium body sits 5mm larger than the IC for close passive placement and dissipates up to 100W with a custom heat sink; pins are customisable across test height, force, plating, and material, with elastomer footprint compatibility for tech switching.
